VARIA VISION FW 3.60: no way to upgrade

Finally a new FW of Varia Vision, tha was unusable with the latest devices.
But i connect to Express, everything seems to be ok, unplug, tourn it on, but no upgrade, still 3.50 version:(:(
  • When you disconnect the Varia Vision from your computer, look immediately at the Vision's screen. It will instruct you to swipe forward to install the update. If you don't, it will boot showing v3.50. This option seems to only appear for a very short period of time, so you have to be quick.
  • I tried, but when i disconnet i just see v 3.50;the file GPUPDATE.RGN is on the varia, but nothing happends|
  • So does anyone know what the new version has in it as far as an update? I saw something about working with new features of Mobile Connect, but I didn't see anything new in there pertaining to the Varia Vision.

  • Yes. It took me about 5 attempts. Every time I updated with GE, it would initially indicate that it was updated. But upon reboot, it was still indicating V3.50. During my final attempt, I kept looking at the Vision's display after disconnecting it from the computer, I then saw the "Swipe Forward" to install update after it rebooted. I did and it installed V3.60. In retrospect, I now remember that previous updates require this action but forgot about this due to infrequent updates.

  • As with many issues with the 1030 (or with Garmin products), some experience problems while others do not.

    I consider myself fortunate...I don't have any issues with 3.60 firmware.

    This has been happening to me also. I did notice when my phone wasn't connected it seemed to work for some time (short ride)...but when it was...reboot after reboot. Since I couldn't get it to work today I decided to disable the Vision on the 1030 and use only the RTL 500 ….it disconnected every 5-10 minutes. Bad experience with this update. I'll see if I can revert to 3.5
