Just got it today and in reviewing the instructions there is a diagram of how it should be mounted on the seat post. The diagram shows a required distance from the tire to the bottom of the Varia but no measurement. Just two lines and two arrows. Is this a critical measurement for the Varia to properly function? I have a small seat bag that I'm trying to fit and I need to have the Varia lower on the post.
Could you post some pictures of how/where you have the lanyard attached to the RTL510
"I used one of the extra mount rings with the elastic bands to attach to the fabric loop on my saddle bag. Then I used a lens cap lanyard attached to the Varia and looped around the saddle rail for extra security. I'd take a pic and post it, but I'm traveling at the moment. I use the lens cap lanyards I bought on Amazon and just attach the sticky part to the back of the RTL and then loop it around the seat rail.
I ended up positioning the Varia fairly low but still a few inches above the top of the tire. Seemed to work very well although I'm concerned about how it is picking up cyclists. I thought it was only supposed to show cars. Could the lower position be the cause of it picking up the cyclists?
Hi, The radar needs to not be blocked by the tire. The diagram is simply showing that the lower level of the radar needs to be higher than the top of the tire, but not by a specific amount.
