UT800, can i charge whilst using?

I have a UT800 and although good for a commute i want to use for longer night rides, is there anyway you can plug a charger in and have the light working at the same time?

You can buy a 2nd unit as reserve and use it when the first is out of battery. Charge the first unit while using the 2nd.

not a bad thought, but at that price I'd rather just buy one light that can be charged

I'm surprised that the light won't charge while it's being used. I have the Edge 1030 bike computer and I bike tour all over the world and as I'm in the saddle sometimes for 8-10 hrs riding, I connect a USB cable to a USB small charger in my top tube bag and charge the device while using it. Never had a problem. I'm going to call Garmin to find out as I want to buy one but 1.5 hrs on high is not very good (but then I just saw the NightRider LUmina 1100 OLED is only good for a little over on an hour on high as well and it won't charge on the fly either).

Light & Motion has one of their lights that you can charge while using. I think it's called the Rando 500.
