I used one of the extra mount rings with the elastic bands to attach to the fabric loop on my saddle bag. Then I used a lens cap lanyard attached to the Varia and looped around the saddle rail for extra security. I'd take a pic and post it, but I'm traveling at the moment. I can post one later in the week.
RTL510 hands down! I have seen posts before for 3d printed mounts of all sorts here is one link I found doing a quick search spend some time looking and I am sure you can find others.
Get the shapeways 20$ mount. Works great for saddle bags with loops or even for saddle rails. I have 6 of them between my family and inlaws. Radar is great...get the new one, sooo much brighter, can actually use it as a tail light, and battery life is much much better. I prefer the dot light to the LED strip as motorists can see the dot light better
Here are the lens cap lanyards I use to secure the Varia. They have a peel and stick connector on one end that is quite strong. I've been using it for months and it even got soaked in a heavy rainstorm, but it's still holding strong. Garmin really should have put lanyard loops on the Varia lights, but this is better than nothing.

I’m interested in hearing how you mount the $20 Shapeways mount on the Saddle rails. I have a very small saddle bag and not enough room on the seatpost to mount my new varia without obscuring the light
