Varia Vision - total ascent goes to zero midway on ride, won't come back

3 rides with Varia Vision now. On each one, midway through the ride, my total ascent stat drops to zero and stays there for the rest of the ride, Restarting the Varia does nothing. Re-pairing does nothing. After each ride I've checked and I have the latest firmware on both the Varia and the Edge 1000.

Anyone else seen this behavior?
  • Same thing has happened to me. Total ascent data is still recorded on Edge 820, but does not display on varia vision. Software version 3.50.
  • I'm guessing you found no workaround.

Along with the navigation prompts, one of the main reasons I got the Varia Vision was so I didn't have to change screens on my Garmin Edge to see the ascent while in a tough climb.

Come on, Garmin. Let's get this fixed!
  • I just purchased the Vision with my new 830 and updated both to the latest firmware.  Total Ascent says "0"

  • What version does the Vision show? 3.60?

It works for me. You may need to try a full reset of the vision.

    How to reset the vision

1.Press power key to turn on device

2.Countdown 5 seconds after first vibration (Display on)

3.Press and hold power key until unit vibrates

4.Keep holding power key until unit vibrates again

5.Release power key, unit performs non-vol clear and reboots.

  • Same problem with Edge 530 running 7.10 and Vision running 3.6.0.

As soon a the total ascent reaches 527 ft, the next increment will be 0 or 1 on the Vision.

Reseting the Vision does not help.

I wish Garmin would spin a final 'final' firmware on the Varia Vision.
