How many lumens does the new Varia radar Red light have? I own the original Varia and love it but..the light is not good for day light riding hope this is an improvement here. imho the varia radar is the most important gadget I have.
I have the old Varia and agree that it is a great "gadget." I generally ride in the daytime and have a super bright light in addition to the Garmin. Drivers around here are pretty much oblivious and so a noticeable light is key for safety.
I appreciate specs posted by aweatherall, but I would be interested in some real world observations/impressions of the new Varia. How noticeable is the light during the day (in sunlight). Obviously its a subjective impression but would be interested in hearing.
well, the old Varia was 16 lumens all the time. The new one is 25 lumens at night and 65 lumens during the day so..... I'd say 4.5x brighter is probably sufficient. It will be awhile before any of them get out into the wild to have a real world observation. You might check out DC rainmakers website to see if he has a review and video. I have one on order already, we'll see how long it takes to arrive.
