Varia smart lights are not so smart

I connected an TL301 and UT800 to my Edge 1000 in smart mode. Both are set to " auto". The lights go on as soon as my Edge 1000 starts the time. also when I cycle faster the he'd light goes brighter and when I break the tail light is brighter. So far so good. The part that I don't get is why on earth do the lights flash during daylight, I want no light during the day and as soon as my edge 1000 goes in night mode the light should switch on and work as described in the first part. It seems I only can get the lights off during the day is by override and switch of on the Edge menu.

So is this a mist opportunity or a bug or a setting that I messed?

thanks

Stefan

There have been numerous times that I do notice a cyclist on the road when I'm driving my car until I am/they relatively close to them/me due to the cyclist's small visual footprint. That's even troubling to me considering I am an avid cyclist and motorcyclist. Having flashing lights during the day makes them much more visible from the further distance.

If it's a choice between saving battery and being more visible to others on the road.....I'll choose the safer option....but that's just me.

I agree on that but not when you cycle in the country site where you hardly see any car or you are on a cycle road (I live in the Netherlands where it is cycle friendly )
  • Flashing lights in daylight seem, to me anyway, entirely sensible.

Auto seems to put the rear light onto a fixed rather than flashing, light. I often override that so that the light is good for a 5-6 hour ride.

In my view, a firmware upgrade of both to allow a user-defined option for auto would be helpful.
