Garmin Varia Vision Doesn't sync data with Edge 1030

Recently acquired the Edge 1030 and the Varia Vision. Update to the Vision only goes up to 3.30 Via Garmin Express on Mac. The Vision will connect to the Edge 1030 but half the time does not sync data to it. Only the Varia Radar works with it. I removed it from the Edge paired devices and re-synced it, however only sometimes it will sync the data but is limited to time and distance and its a 45 sec delay and then freezes.

Will there be a fix for this?

  • Strange the latest Vision build is 3.40.

    Copy the file to the Garmin folder on the Vision and rename it to gupdate.rgn. When you disconnect the Vision from the PC it will offer to install the update.

    The syncing issue is a known issue, which Garmin says will be fixed in the next update.

    Alan, you say this is a known issue! I have been on to garmin with both email and telephone. I presume I have the same issue.
    no problem pairing my varia vision with the new 1030 both the 1030have latest firmware installed and I never had a single problem with my 1000 but, with the 1030 the Varia Vision keeps running the time up but no other data mirrors for more than 2-3 minutes so whatever speed I was doing and distance travelled just remains the same unless I turn off my varia vision and restart it then same all over again just 2-3 minuted.
    the interesting part is Garmintold me they haven?t heard this before (I told them to check the forums) they authorised my 1030 to be changed which I did but still exactly the same I?m afraid.
    why have Garmin not admitted this on the forums so at least we all have some kind of work fine with the same firmware installed

    sorry if it sounds like I?m holding you responsible not meant that way at all but very frustrated with Garmin and wish at the moment I never sold my 1000

    I'm also facing the issues of the light networks dropping off for no reason as mentioned on another thread. The 1030 has a lot of great updates over the 1000 but disappointed the software on it wasn't optimised to go with Garmin's other devices.

    Right guys v3.40 made no difference whatsoever but! I updated to the latest v3.50 and my varia vision is now doing what it is supposed to do again I hope this works for you guys too
