Cannot update software on Vision

I have a new Varia Vision and want to use it with a 520 with up-to-date software. The Varia turns on OK and shows a minimal display, but when I try to pair it with the 520, I get this message: "The Varia Vision device requires a software update. I used the latest Garmin Express application to install the latest software." Then I attached the Vision to my computer via USB, fired up Express, and clicked "Add a Device." This message appeared: "We couldn't find a device or ANT Stick." I tried sequences of the required steps, but I still get the same message. What do I do now?

Does the Vision mount and show as drive on your computer? Do you have the latest of Garmin Express?

Thank you for the quick response. I tried a USB2 port instead of a USB3 port and it showed as a drive this time. My 520 was already updated to 12.20.
