UT800 Updating

Hello community!
How is the light able to update? Through Garmin Express or an Edge devise? Thanks in advance.

    Good thing I had ant+ stick laying around.

    If a Manual was even supplied. Had to download the manual to figure out that you need an Ant+ Stick and a USB cable. I don't have an Ant+ Stick and I have several Garmin devices. Has anyone figured out how to update just over USB. Doesn't make any sense to have a USB port that you can't update with! I have a Rino, fenix, varia vision (it's partner!) all of which update via USB. And my Edge 1000 which also updates via USB when connected has a update firmware button when the UT800 is connected but it doesn't seem to do anything.

    Anyone been able to update just via USB or via an Edge 1000?

    You should be able to update it via the Edge 1000 I think. You certainly can from the 820 and 1030 so I would suspect the 1000 would do it.

    If you sync via Garmin Express it should place the update file on the Edge. If it does not have a look at this thread

    I can confirm that you can update with the Edge 1000. It seems random as to when its going to prompt for the update. Clicking in on the update button from the light network screen does nothing. I updated my Edge 1000 directly from Garmin Express and the Edge didn't prompt me to update until my second ride.

    Hopefully they will make the update button do something, and maybe they will remove the Ant+ stick requirement. I can't think of one device besides the UT800 that requires it.

    Well, here we are 2 years later and you still need the ANT+ stick and one is still not provided.

    My Edge 530 was just stuck on searching for an update, luckily I had a Garmin ANT+ stick from my Tacx trainer

    Well, it need ac adapter to be charged and it is also not provided in the box. Got to buy it snd ant stock if u need to charge or update it

    I suspect that the is assumption is that most people have either PC with a USB port or already have USB power block that can be used.

    The update takes place via the UT800 connected to the GPS device (Edge, Fenix ..) and this connected to the Garmin Connect Mobile App

    If updates are available, it will indicate and you ask to install.If updates are available, it will indicate and you ask to install.
