Powering Up Varia in Mid Ride

Sometimes I start a ride with my Varia Radar turned off but my Edge 520 is on and collecting ride data. When I get to a heavy traffic area I like to power on my Varia. The problem is it will not connect to my Edge 520. I tried stopping the Edge 520 from collecting data and still no connection. I have to completely power down the Edge 520 which also powers down the Varia. When I power up everything from scratch no Varia connection issues.

Any one know of a cool procedure for turning on Varia and connecting up in mid ride without powering down the Edge 520.

I am not familiar with the menu system on the 520 but on my 1000 I go to Sensors and on the radar icon select connect whilst my activity is still running. Just the same as if I got a disconnect on HRM.

There is a limited time window after starting an activity where the device continues to search for ANT+ devices. Perhaps, for you, a Stop then Start will reactivate the search.

Thanks so much for your response. Your tip to go to Sensors and then select connect for Varia worked fine. It is a lot of button pushing but it is a lot quicker and easier then powering down and powering up two devices to reconnect. Great tip.
