Varia rear light mount options

Just purchased a rear light and the width of the thing is a bit of a surprise, I'm struggling to get a mount position that doesn't catch something. Does anyone know if it's possible to mount the light in a vertical position or does this impact the radar detection?

I'm pretty sure vertical isn't an option but there are already several threads about mounting options.

Radar is polarized, so it would seem that vertically mounting the Varia would not be good.
