Varia Radar light flashing problem

Hi All,
Just bought a new Varia radar bundle unit. Whilst very happy with the radar and car detection ability, I have had an issue straight out of the box with the lights and how they flash when the unit is switched one. When the radar is turned on sometimes only one led will flash the entire ride, other times three led's will only flash when turned on. Occasionally four led's will flash when switched on (as per normal operation apparently) but this is rare. The flashing mode does not change during the ride, but the number of led's that that flash is different and not consistent each time (i.e. 1, 3, or 4) when the unit is turned on. Pressing the button only changes the flash mode e.g. 'three 'flashing lights over to 'one' flashing light and back again to 'three' if pressed twice. The common led light is always either middle led that remains 'blank' when not functioning properly.

Also when switched on the led that is 'not flashing' is also 'blank when the battery led indicator check is displayed on unit start up. To me it seems like a soft or firmware issue that leaves one led 'off'?

Does anybody else have this issue, or know how to reset the unit?

Sounds like a faulty LED to me.

That definitely sounds like a defective LED. The button should cycle it between 2 lights being on steady or 4 flashing. Since the one doesn't even come on during the battery check it's probably broken. You should contact Garmin support and arrange a warranty exchange. If you give them a credit card number as security they will usually even ship out a new one before the old one is shippe dback.
