For those who want to mount to the back of a saddle bag, I devised a really simple way to do this. I cut a thin strip of aluminum 3x3/4”. Then I removed the two screws that hold the Varia mount to…
Here's a very simple option if you want to mount your Varia RTL510 to the luggage loop on your saddlebag.
Mounting the unit to the seat post is not an option for me because my seat post is completely…
I wanted to mount my Varia RTL510 to the saddlebag. It's a standard Medium Topeak bag. I decided to laser cut two identical pieces of acrylic and use those in combnation with the Garmin twist mount from…
Anyone know if this works?
Perfect and easy to assemble, although perhaps a little expensive, but for now without problems

Are any Trek owners with the RT mount under the saddle using the following successfully with a Varia 515?

Seems pricey but the only nicely integrated solution I can find for my Trek bike.
I just go my Varia and ended up ordering a couple of things from Amazon to solve this very problem:
A mount that attaches to the seat rails: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0832D9DMW
And some standard GoPro mount extensions: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JJKLH7T
I also grabbed some screws for the extensions since they don't come with any (standard GoPro screws).
Here's how it turned out:
Thank you very much for sharing your method! I installed it exactly like the way you did and it looks amazing & very secure as well!
I did use the ‘closethegap’ mudguard to mount my varia radar, but unfortunately this mudguard breaks too easily. I cannot use it longer and I think it’s too expensive to buy a new one with the same risk.
This is how I made my own mount for my Fizik saddle.
From a plastic paint stirrer I made my own mount. An old garmin quickrelease, another piece of plastic and some tiewraps.
I adjusted the dismensions with a stanleyknife, with a piece of hot metal I sharply bent the plastic, drilled two small holes for the screws, adjusted the quick release connector, spraypainted it, and voila. This new mount easily slides in the slot of the saddle and remains stuck in this slot. To avoid lost during a ride, I secured it with a tiewrap to the saddlebars. (Yes, these are rusty due to beach biking).
Mark, thank you for this great post. I used a variation of it and it works great! I bought a downspout strap, some heavy duty velcro and a wrap around velcro strap for extra protection. A very painless solution to the problem! Thank you!
