Tail light unable to reconnect to Edge 1000 after waiking from sleep

Folks:

Has anyone encountered a problem with the TL-300 not reconnecting to an Edge 1000 if the Edge was put to sleep and woken up?

I've had this happen a few times already ... I'll start the Edge & and TL up and they will pair fine.

If I take a break from the ride and put the Edge to sleep ... after waking the Edge up, the TL doesn't reconnect to the Edge.

I've contacted Garmin support and they want to replace the unit ... but I don't think it's got a physical defect, as the two units pair fine initially. It's just after waking from sleep that they don't communicate.

Thanks!

david
  • My rear radar unit behaves the same. If edge sleeps I need to rescan for radar on wakeup.
  • Problem is, my tail light doesn't reconnect.

Please ensure the software on the tail light is up to date. Keep in mind the radar unit will not automatically reconnect until manually powered on.

I've updated the tail light's software to the latest (2.50).

As I mentioned before, the tail light connects (and works) fine initially ... it just has problems after the Edge 1000 has woken up from sleep.

Your tech support people want to replace the unit ... but I can't see how it's defective. If it didn't connect at all, I would agree that it was defective.

Have you tried to reconnect manually? I have the RTL501 but I think the procedure is the same for the TL-300:
    Switch on the Light
Go to the sensors menu of the Edge
Find the Light-"Sensor", klick on it and then hit the "Connect" Button on the Bottom

For the RTL501 this works every time it won't connect automatically.
  • Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. Didn't work.
