Varia Vision and Garmin 735XT

This is a cross post from my post in the 735 forum as no one there seems to be using the Varia Vision:

I just got mine today and paired it up and it works great. Only 3 things seem an issue:

• The screens the Varia Vision shows are exactly the screens on your watch for the Acitivity you are using and you cannot have different screens on the watch and on the Varia Vision.
  
• Navigation directional cues that you get from a course on the 735XT are not shown on the Varia Vision
  
• I got one notification while testing it and it did not display on the Varia Vision, but I think they are supposed to. Anyone confirm this?
  

Other than the above it seems great. Won't be testing it for a long ride until Sunday, but might try it for a run tomorrow, but most people seem to think it bounces around too much and gets distracting while running.

Not sure if they act the same but on the Edge 520 there are five screens under the sensor menu and those are the one I can scroll through. Have not tried navigation yet but it should show on the varia vision. I get notifications and they do show on the varia.

I believe under the settings> sensor> whatever sensor is labeled> data fields> you can toggle segments, navigation and virtual partner on and off not sure if thats how its layed out on the 735xt.

No, unfortunately it is all different on the 735XT when paired with the Varia Vision, it is not the same as the Edge 520 or 1000.

How did you make out with the above. I just got it and using it with the 5x and also not getting TBT popups or any other. Is it currently working for you?

Have moved watches a couple of times since this post and have a 935 now. I don't pair the Varia Vision with my watch anymore, I pair it with my Edge 820 and use it that way.

Do you know if it the tbt will work on your watch? Isn't supposed to? I will be a bit pissed if its not supported on the 5x since that is the reason for the purchase.

Don't have a 5x so cannot comment. Have not tested much with 935 as it caused rebooting of the 935 when I had all my sensors connected navigating a course, but in earlier FW versions there was no TBT notification on the Varia Vision from the 935. Here is thread I posted my experience in:

I was on the phone with Garmin today:

Tech 1: Had me try removing sensor from watch and re-pairing --> Didn't do it
Tech 2: Had me deleted the settings directory from the Varia, re-pair and try --> Didn't do it.
Tech 3: Informed me that there is an open case regarding this issue and, well I need to wait for them to get around to resolving this.

If you have a chance and the inclination, maybe you can see if the 735 will show the tbt pop ups or the phone notifications.

I was also wondering, if anyone actually has a feel for this design as to what needs to be updated to resolve this issue, the Varia or the Watch or Both????
