Turn on/off TL300 from Edge 1000

I just got two Varia TL 300 which are paired with the Edge 1000. I did not read the features closely and I bought these TL 300 thinking it has the features I want. What I want is to have the LED turned on automatically when going through the tunnel or under the bridge etc. where a light condition changes suddenly.

I believe what it does now is just increasing the intensity when paired with a light-sensing Edge 1000.

I do not want to set the TL 300 on Auto mode (turn on all the time) since I am planning 8-10 hours ride and I do not think battery will last that long.

Now I have set those to 'Individual' mode and set each light to 'OFF'. Currently there is no button or interface to turn the light back on again easily. Only buttons available are 'Turn Signal' when I touch the screen.

It would be nice to have the same buttons/features like the physical Varia remote on the Edge to turn on/off the lights.

Any idea to turn on/off the light from the Edge without going through many menus? I search ConnectIQ app and there is no app for Varia yet.

Hello,

You could use the Varia Remote (010-12094-20) to power on the two TL 300's independently from the Edge 1000 itself. Keep in mind that the TL 300 will run up to 14 hours in flash mode. Flash mode is available on only TL-300 only.

Alternate to Varia Remote

Thanks for the reply.

I am aware of the Varia Remote could do that and trying to find out the alternate method. I do not want another thing on my handle bar. I am sure it could be done by Edge and the feature is not implemented yet.

And also I am start seeing the issue of dropping out of the Light Network intermittently as reported by other users on this forum also.

Anyhow, these lights will most likely be returned.
