Varia Vision Error - Update required

I just got my Varia Vision and it asked for me to connect for the latest update. I did and it is updated to 2.40 and Garmin Connect says I'm up to date but when I try to connect again with my 520, it says it requires a software update. Anyone else having this issue?
  • It's your 520 that needs the firmware update.

    I updated the 520, VV, and Rear View. They're all on the latest versions.

    That is correct. I connected both the Varias and the Edge to Garmin Connect yesterday evening to ensure all were on the latest software version and they are. I double checked just now and it's on build 5.30.

    So I also reconnected my VV and it said it had an update to 2.40 even though I had done so yesterday. I updated and it took this time so not sure what happened. Looking forward to testing it out! :cool:

    Varia does not want to update to 2.40. Garmin express says ok for 2.40 at the end of the update process, but varia says allways 2.30 after reboot.

  • You could try doing the update manually.

    Download this file http://gawisp.com/perry/edge/HMD_regionfileonly__240.rgn

    Place it the Garmin folder on the Varia Vision and rename it to gupdate.rgn. Then startup the Varia Vision.

    But... the varia came back to 2.3 after rebooting...

    Oh oh... wait... it's ok !
    After a new express attempt, varia switched on 2.40.

  • I am having the same problem, but it keeps reverting to 2.30 after every reboot. Can I reset it to factory state by deleting some files? Any other ideas?

    The way Garmin does updates present constant circular problems. When will they figure out approaches that don't present endless problems for customers?

    When I connect my Varia Vision, Garmin Express tells me it's up to date, v 3.10. But when I try to connect the Varia Vision to my Edge 1000, the Edge shows an error message claiming the Varia Vision require a software update and says to use the Garmin Express application to install the latest software. So I do that yet again and get the same messages. Round and round I go and nothing works. A dozen times already. Could not be more FUBAR Garmin. I have much better things to do with my time that wasting it trying to correct Garmin's sloppy software.
