It's Really Hard to Make the "Device Key" Work!

My Varia lights were purchased last Friday (March 18). So far, I have found it very difficult to make the "Device Key" on any of the three units work. I press hard with my thumb, and usually, nothing happens. I try again, and maybe again. I have even started using the edge of my iPhone case to press on the key - that often works for me.

Does anyone else find the key hard to press (and have the light recognize that you pressed it)? Does this get easier after the lights have been used for awhile?

I don't understand what you mean by "Device Key".
If you mean the "Power Button", you have to press and hold for 2 seconds, but I'm sure you read that in the user manual.
  • Yes, the manual refers to the "power button" as the "device key". That's why I used the term - because it's in the manual that way.

Whatever you choose to call it, I find it hard to press the button / key and have it make contact.

I used the lights this morning for a short pre-dawn ride. Once I got all three of the lights into "smart mode" (where the blue light flashes every few seconds) and started my Edge 1000, everything worked great. When I shut down the Edge, the lights all went into smart mode. I carried them inside and charged them. When I removed them from my PC, they all turned off. So right now, it looks like the only time I need to press the button / key is when I want to go riding with the lights on.
