  • Same issue here. Not enough memory. Using latest version of Express, RTU, and PC. My computer shows Varia with 0kb free of 1.98Mb
  • Something is on the device that should not be.

If you are on Windows open a command window "cmd"

Then list the contents of the RTL. If the RTL is drive D: then use something like, dir D: /s
If you redirect the output in to a file and post the file that might allow someone to see what is on the device that should not be.

    Dir D: /S > "C:\RTL_Files.txt"
    Dir D: /S /A:H > "C:\RTL_Hidden.TXT"

    Thank you for any assistance...
  • Also unable to update

I have the same problem, unable to update to latest software as it will not fit on the internal memory of the device.
  • You can format the RTL and start fresh. I've done that when reverting back to 3.0..

    On Windows

    -Connect RTL
-Find RTL drive --> Right Click --> Format
    -Eject RTL from PC
-Power on and it will recreate the RTL folders
    -Connect to PC again
-Use WebUpdater and select reinstall the current version

Format at your own risk.. I've done it a few times without issue..
  • worked like a champ

Thanks Raqball - that worked great, now on 3.40 off for a ride to see how it performs.

  • Is this problem being caused by Garmin Express loading two firmwares onto the radar tail unit? That is, one for the tail unit and one for the display unit. If the owner of the tail unit has no display unit (because he uses an Edge as the display), then that second firmware is going to stay on the tail unit, perhaps causing the tail unit being seen as out of memory the next time Garmin Express is used? I have not had the out of memory problem perhaps because I have the RDU.

    Dunno, just guessing.
  • The update files are quite small. There must be something filling up what should be the free space. Re-formatting the device as suggested above removes all the files from device and allows the system to rebuild the file system.

The RTL update is 504 KB and the RDU update is 175 KB. There should be almost 2 MB of frees space on the device.
  • Re formatting resolved my issue, whereas several iterations with Garmin support did not!
