The manual suggests mounting the radar unit as high as possible on the seat post. I use a small seat bag on both bikes for repair stuff, so near the top is not possible. Which makes more sense, right below the bottom level of the seat bag or about halfway between the bottom of the bag and the top of the rear wheel, which is about an inch above the seat post clamp? The latter is more visible from cars and would seem to have less obstruction.
How high do you position the radar unit on your seat post? Is it right below the saddle? About halfway? Down near the clamp?
I have a relatively flat top tube on a 56cm frame and a small under seat bag for a repair kit, which does not leave much seat post for the Varia. It has to be just above the clamp. I can switch to a small top tube bag if needed to give more space for the radar unit, but will not bother if lower is working fine for other people.
Changes made from version 2.20 to 3.00:
PLEASE NOTE: You must update your Edge device and Radar Display Unit to maintain compatibility with the Radar Tail Light.
It looks like you have updated your Varia Radar to Firmware V3.00 but have not updated your Edge 1000.
It needs to be on the latest release (5.2) for it to continue working with the Varia once 3.00 is installed.
Putting the Radar unit in simulation mode requires placing a file of zero size in the Garmin folder on the Radar unit called "enable_demo.txt". Remember to remove this file after testing.
