Unable To Connect To Varia Wi-Fi

I'm unable to connect to the Varia wifi using the Varia app, which among other things prevents using the Varia app to update the RCT715 firmware. Steps followed:
- Varia RCT715 is connected by Bluetooth – shows RCT715-nnnnnn "Connected"
- Press icon
- "Join Varia Wi-Fi Network"
- "Varia" Wants to Join Wi-Fi Network "RC715-nnnnnn" --> Join
- "Unable to join the network "RCT715-nnnnnn"  --> OK
- Try Again …
Setup:
Varia RCT715, firmware ver 5.10
Varia app ver 3.2.0 4 for iOS
iOS 18.1.1
The same issue has also been posted in the Varia Series forum, but these discussions have been locked.
  • I have exactly the same issue, though after around 3 attempts it eventually connects.

    An additional problem I have is that after eventually connecting photos & videos don't appear in the Gallery in the app, but I do see them when I connect by cable to my laptop. After discussions with Garmin and even sending them a video they said my Varia was faulty and arranged for a new one under warranty, but it still happens. 

    Not impressed with this from what is supposed to be a market-leader,
