RCT715 battery fail?

Had my RCT715 for a few months, happy with it but now:

Unit went off whilst riding, battery depleted, but now trying to charge it, no indicator lights, gets hot while charging and will not switch on?

So...I left the unit on a low power charge overnight...solid red light was on when I checked in the morning...unplugged it and presto, it switched on but battery low...so I plugged it back in on normal charge and flashing green light for about an hour, then solid green and back in action, been running full day with no issues...normal battery usage...so holding thumbs..

Maybe it drained too low in the first place?
