Can you reccomend the Rally 100 powermeter? Should I be aware of any issues commonly occurring?

I am thinking about getting a single sided unit. As far as I know previous Garmin models had frequent issues with the batteries. Are those more any other still an issue?

I prefer this model over the Favero models for their solution with batteries. I plan to keep the pedals in use for many years and while rechargeable batteries are nice, I don't like that Favero glues them in shut and does not provide replacement. I already have that with the Edge device. I am not looking forward towards decaying pedal batteries as well.

  • I can confirm, having used both versions that the battery door issues were fully resolved on the Rally models. I have also seen reports of a new model in the pipeline.

  • Not sure what your budget and potential future plans are. I have XC 100 that I've upgraded to XC 200 after about a year. My main regret is not buying XC 200 from the start. It ended up quite a bit more expensive since you can often find the 200 pedals on discount, while the upgrade pedals aren't as widely available and seems to be stuck at MSRP.

With the XC 100 it was reading high compared to my smart trainer when I was sitting up during rest intervals, while the power readings were aligned with my hands on the bar. After upgrading to XC 200 the power readings aren't affected by the riding position. If you're just using it outside then it's likely fine.
