Using two GPS units with Rally 200

Hi

I should be able to use the Rally 200 with ANT+ to send data to two GPS units at the same time, right?

I am recording my long rides using 1040 as main device and 530 as a backup data recorder.

Sometimes I get calibration error message when I try and calibrate using the 1040 when the 530 is connected.

  • It should work without issue.

Check that there are no conflicting settings on the two units.

Check crank length, Cycling Dynamic (TE/PS, CD), Auto-zero

  • I have auto zero turned on, on both devices. I'm wondering if thats the issue. I should imagine it only needs to activated on one of the units otherwise it will create a conflict. It seems to unpredictably fail calibration, so I wonder if when the pedals wake up, if they connect to the 1040 first, happy days, if they connect to the 830 first, then I can't calibrate on the 1040.

I have also noticed that 'reinstall pedal angles' has gone as an in-menu option on the 1040 since the latest FW update. I think it is a relic from the Vector 1 and 2 models (from what I remember of what I have read online). I used to do this when fitting the pedals (I swap the between bikes) but it's obviously not needed as the option has gone.

  • I have an Edge 1040 and a 1050.  I mount the 1050 on the out front mount, and carry the 1040 in my jersey pocket.  Both have the same sensors (heart, electronic shifting, power pedals, etc.).  The bike I ride most of the time has Rally RK200 pedals.  Both Edge units detect the pedals, and provide similar measurements.  The 1040 tends to measure power at two watts lower than the 1050.

I set the 1050 up by copying the 1040's settings.  This would mean that aweatherall's post about conflicting settings should not apply to my setup.

Having a backup has saved me a couple of times, as one day I couldn't get the 1050 to power on, and another day, the 1040 decided to not record my ride.  But I've had no issues with sensors recording to both devices.  Good luck!
