New batteries after the original only last few hours before being empty

Hello,
I bought the RS100 pedals in February 2024 and they were installed at a workshop. They worked fine for around 100 hours, at which point the battery got empty. However, every time I put a new one, it only works for a few hours, and then the pedal is not recognized anymore by my Edge 540. I tried 4 batteries, from 2 brands (Duracell and Varta) and 2 different sellers, all new (under blister) and with expiration date in 2033, so I believe the problem is coming from the pedal itself.
Is there some special knowledge required besides what's written in the manual Replacing the Batteries ?

properly you have poor battery doors.

i had the same problem, battery lastet 1 day after first change. After new doors, everthing works fine. Got the xc kit from Garmin

Thanks, sounds indeed exactly like my problem. So it's not my fault, the doors were defective to start with basically? I will update this thread once I get new ones.

Is there a way to repair these, without replacement? I’m not to keen to spend 20 Euros to try this for a fix for the poor battery life

And how can the doors drain the batteries? Could someone explain this?

I wrote to garmin support on August 24th, they replied on Sept 3rd and send me a replacement battery door for free. I received it on Sept 7th and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
