Battery door siezed shut

At the first battery change requirement on my XC100 pedals, I learned that the battery door was siezed on the right pedal. No amount of effort was enough to unstick the battery door. Eventually the metal became stripped making the battery inaccessable. Now I'm left owning an expensive pair of pedals with no power sensor feature. Garmin rep responded too bad, so sad. From my reading of posts, seema this is a known defect with these pedals.

You should be able to use a tap and a hammer to remove the cover. First, get a new battery door and o-ring from Garmin. Remove pedal from crank and gently clamp the pedal body in a vice with the battery door facing upwards. Use a Dremel tool to cut a notch on the edge of the battery door. Take a small tap or awl and engage the notch, then use the hammer to hit the end of the tap or awl, to unscrew the door counter-clockwise. Should come off with a few good hits.

HI, I thougth i had the same problem. But it appaers that i have the single sided version. Both pedals look exactly the same, but only the left one has a battery door that opens. Maybe that's also your issue.

The manual is very poor regarding this aspect of the pedals. It says that the XC200 needs two batteries: It omits to say that the XC100 only needs one battery in the left pedal.

In the spec section of the manual it says 1/2 batteries per pedal: It again omits to say that the XC100 only needs a battery in the left pedal.

In the Garmin shop regarding the replacement battery covers it is silent: It omits to say that you only need to buy one battery cover kit for the XC100 system.

On the XC100 support page It is very briefly implied in this video: "Now repeat the process for the other pedal if you have a dual Rally system.". In other words the XC100 only requires a battery in the left pedal.
