Using Pedal Extenders

I can see in the manual saying not to use pedals extender. Has anyone done this? as I use pedal extenders and was wondering if the will cause any damage to the unit.

  • NOTICE

Do not install pedal extenders. Doing so could damage the electronics in the pedals, causing the pedals to not function.

  • Many (most) pedal extenders do not have sufficient thread depth to properly accommodate the inboard end of the spindle. Torquing the pedals into these extenders will crush the plastic cap on the spindle and damage the electronics. If the pedals are not properly torqued in, then they may come loose during riding which would pose a safety hazard.

Secondarily, the radio antenna is located at the inboard end of the spindle. Enclosing the antenna within a metal pedal extender will substantially degrade the radio performance such that the communication to the head unit (or pedal to pedal) is going to be unacceptable.
