Restarting during ride

My daily problem is that when recording activity, the device constantly restarts, navigation is off, I don't touch the device, it just restarts... sometimes after every 10-12km, for example on a 170km trip it restarted 13 times

VERSION 6.06, does anyone have a similar problem?

The device is new directly from Garmin, I have it only 20 days and I am struggling with this problem, ah my problems with Garmin will probably never end...

Lots of people have recommended Garmin to me saying: stable, quality and long lasting device...

I first purchased a Garmin Fenix 8, after 4 months the watch was restarting with the flashlight on, so the complaint department, it took a lot of time explaining since they just wiped and updated the device ahh

Garmin Varia out of the box couldn't even just turn on completely non-functional, again the complaint department

I don't know what to do, every Garmin device is faulty and waiting for 30 days to process a claim during the summer season is unacceptable ahhhhhhh

For me it never continues.. which is the biggest issue. It doesn't loose the data from before the restart, but it reboots into a Stopped state, then I have to click start and select climbing or descending…

I've experienced restarts but not as often as you have described, some rides none at all, others 2 or 3 restarts during the ride. Running 6.06.

It might be a coincident but on my last two rides the garmin didn´t restart where it did quiet a lot before.
Only thing that was different is that I charged it to 100% before I went out.
On my tours with a lot of restarts my battery was more around 30-40% if I remember correctly.

My device is currently under the most up to date FW version (6.07?), country is germany.
I will pay close attention to thos on future rides.

I did a ride today using the downhill mode which constantly did not record and restarted numerous times. I did not have this issue before updating the software last night and it has worked absolutely fine beforehand

Hello from finland! Here i have this exact same issue with restarting during rides! Newest possible software as i just this morning updatet mine. Also noticed today that mine crashes everytime i try to go to maps by pressing up and then scrolling pages down. Solution please?

Hi, I subscribed to beta program some days ago.

I have got SW 28.20 on my device.

I made a Tour today (24th of August 2025) and had several crashes of the Edge MTB. Some lead to a complete reset of the device. Some lead to a stop of the activity tracking with the notification „virtual partner ended“

I‘m located in Germany

Yesterday I had no restarts.

What changed:

Firmware from 6.07 to 28.20.

I didn’t use navigation on the Edge.

The connected hardware was the same, namely:

power meter
e-bike
front and rear light
Fenix 8s used as a heart-rate sensor.

Mode – cycling.

About 10 km on a route I’d ridden before. The remaining 67 km were on routes I’d never ridden with this device.

I observed restarts (even with newest software) only if it is not fully charged. Yesterday it was charged 47% and rebooted every 20-30 minutes.

Yesterday, I spent a few hours riding with my Edge MTB, and unfortunately, it crashed 10 times while using the beta software version 28.18. I attempted to update it to version 28.20, but I'm not optimistic about it because other users have reported crashes even after the update.

I too am experiencing this restart - Super frustrating as it wasn't doing this prior to updating to 28.2.
