Home Overlay automatically comes up when you touch the screen.

When I'm riding at night and I tap the screen, the backlight comes on and the Home overlay is automatically shown and placed over the data screen, hiding metrics.  In order to get rid of the Home overlay and see my data, I have to tap the screen a second time.  This means that every time I want to see my data, I have to tap the screen twice.  I would seem to me that the Home overlay should come up if I tap the screen a second time, not on the first tap.

Is this just on my Explore 2?  Is there a setting to change this behavior?

Thanks.

  • It's the same on my edge explore 2. I don't have an answer to solve this but I'm going to keep the back light on at night which helps.

  • Short swipe across the display.

  • Yes, but it's a very bad user experience. I don't need any feature the ee2 doesn't have (like 5Hz recording) . The only thing I want is to be able to change the name and activity type of the 3 profiles. I don't have an indoor bike so that's useless for me, but I'd like to be able to have these 3 profiles: MTB, Road, Bike commuting. I'm not asking for more profiles. Not for any specific data or feature that it doesn't have now. Just don't inconvenience me to edit the sport type after every ride.

  • This really doesn't work.  Short swipe, micro swipe, longer swipe.. It's all the same result.  I wish they would add a toggle or make the home overlay come on with a double tap instead of a single tap.  It really bad to have that thing come on every time you touch the fool thing when you're riding at night.

  • You can change the name of the profile, but not the activity type, unfortunately.  The settings are stored in .fit files so you may be able to edit them with the FIT SDK.
