Powering on when plugging in or unplugging

Turns on when plugged in.  I'm just trying to charge it as quickly as possible after a ride, not use it.

Tried to go for a ride today after not using it for a few days and it was at 1% battery.

The power button should have an on or off function, that's it, simple.

When you are done with your ride for the day you turn it off.

What is the possible purpose of standby?  Deciding on a spur of the moment midnight ride and you need to go so quickly you don't have time to turn it on?  Very odd.

  • It happens in every Garmin bike computer released in last years, maybe ever. Only response we are getting from Garmin is "it was designed to do so, it's a feature not a bug" but no one knows (or can explain) why it was designed to do so all this years ago and in what crazy circumstances it is advantageous to the user. If you want to make this more annoying then you are lucky because they have developed a new feature recently in Varia radars and connected lights department. They not always go to sleep with the device. This way you can plug the Edge to the charger, it will wake up, it will wake up the lights and then you have multiple blinking devices in multiple places you have to check and manually turn off to make sure the don't drain battery when Edge is charging.

  • LOL.  Sounds like a convoluted cascade of comedy that led to the creation of a catastrophic construction. Sorry you have to go through that and thanks for my morning laugh.

My friends varia chirps whenever we go around a corner, it chirps when it sees a tree, it chirps multiple times for every vehicle, it chirps when it wants to.  I'm not sure it wasn't programmed at Letterkenny.
