Is there a way to set markers on a course to help track performance?

I've been able to mark laps by position on courses I ride on, but what I'd like to do is set a marker on a course so that I can track my performance during certain sections of the course.

There are a couple of routes in my neighborhood I ride regularly so this feature/setting would help me track my performance. I'm not running laps per se, just sections with fixed start points and end points.

Ie, if I were riding South in Manhattan from 125th Street, I'd like to see how fast I get to 106th, then 96th, then 86th each time I ride this course.

  • What you need is a feature called "Segments". Not sure, though, if the Edge Explore 2 has that feature.

  • Thanks for the tip. While the Edge Explore 2 itself does not support it on the device, I can create segments on the online portal. Whenever I ride through the segment, the device will record my performance and then when the activity gets uploaded to the online database, I can see how I did in that segment.

I was even able to look at past activities where I rode through the specific segments I want to track and the portal updated my personal leaderboard with the results from each of those rides.

This is exaclty what I wanted to do. Thanks again for that tip!!!

For context, there is a tough climb very close to where I live that I ride on my way back home. I could use the lap feature to track my performance of course, but I wanted a fixed start and stop point that triggered each time I rode that climb. Segments does exactly that and keeps a nice list of times I rode that climb.

I actually set a new PR for that climb this morning! 2 MPH faster than when I first started riding again after a 2 year break just about a month ago.
