What can I do to get it to sync my latest planned route from komoot?! It just won‘t sync.

It’s driving me mad I‘m gonna throw away the device.

I have komoot synced to garmin. Mostly works fine.

Now today I‘m ready to ride, route is prepared. But it won‘t download. Since an hour!! Both my phone and the edge say they‘re connected. I can even see the info of my route on the edge in the komoot section of connectIQ. But I can‘t download it or sync. Either it tells me suddenly that I‘m „offline“ or just says download error. Meanwhile my connect app on the iphone every once in a while says something about it wanting to send an update to the edge. Are you kidding me? I want to ride, not do an update!

Any help appreciated and sorry if my tone is off I‘m very frustrated right now. 

  • This is a kommot issue not Garmin. Suggest you talk to the Komoot developers for some things to try.

  • Only logical solution for me to get planned courses from Komoot to Explore 2 is to

    1. export .gpx in Komoot Android app,
    2. open the .gpx from the system dropdown menu using Garmin Connect (once you get the prompt),
    3. save the course in Garmin Connect
    4. and send to Garmin device

    Might be more steps here, but it works 100%.

  • Unfortunately, Komoot fired its staff after being swallowed by VC. I expect it to get worse and worse. 

    People should find another service in the long run. In the short run, manually .gpx exports and imports into Connect will work. 

  • This happened to me during one of my multi day trips. One day it stopped syncing. At the end it turned out that I had to delete older courses from the device, because it was "full". Once deleted a few old courses the new course from komoot synced
