Indoor Profile Not Recording Elevation

I would like to use the indoor profile with custom screens specific to an outdoor ride so I customized the profile settings to be compatible with navigation and outdoor rides. When I use the Indoor Profile for an outside road ride; courses, navigation, maps, elevation screens, all work fine but no elevation data is transferred to Garmin Connect, no elevation data is included in the downloaded GPX file, and the ascents displayed on the explorer 2 summary page are always 0. When the activity is viewed on Garmin Connect there is no elevation data. The road profile works just fine.  Software is 26.18

  • Solution is not to use Indoor profile outdoors. It is limited in ways it uses GPS. No help there.

  • Yoy maybe right about not using the indoor profile for an outdoor ride but I just completed a 25 mile outdoor ride using the indoor profile with gps enabled and the gps was right accuracy was great. There maybe situations when there is a compromise but I didn't see it on my recent ride.

  • I'm pretty sure there was a discussion about issues of GPS and Indoor profile use in the past, reports that GPS data is not being saved (or displayed, not sure). I guess that too changes with firmware updates.

  • As far as I can tell all other data appears to be saved. Even the elevation screens appear correct. For some reason the device does not record the elevation data and therefore its not transmitted to Garmin connect. I am wondering if this is a bug. It would be great if Garmin responded. Having the elevation data would allow this profile to be used in more than indoor only.

  • We've been waiting for the ability to edit profiles for quite some time now....would not hold my breath.
