Bike alarm function - how to use it?

So, I tried to use this feature for the first time. Mid ride, try to activate it from the swipe from top menu. I get a notification to stop timer on the current activity to enable bike alarm first. OK, i press pause, but from that paused screen I can only save or discard activity, cannot swipe from top to access bike alarm option.

Is this really how Garmin thinks people use bike alarm?

Stop the activity then press and hold the power button. You can enable the bike alarm from there, with no need to save activity. Press start button when ready to get going again.

A bike alarm is not a bell, but a security system that when you stop somewhere, stop your activity and activate it, and if someone tampers with your bike, it will start beeping and send you a notification to your watch or phone.

It is not enough to stop activity. You have to end (save) or discard your activity completely to use alarm. So, if you stop mid ride for a short break, you cannot pause activity and use alarm at the same time. I know it is not a bell.

Also works on pause but need to activate from from phone garmin connect, going into device settings safety and tacking
