How do I strip back all the settings on my garmin

I use my new Edge explore 2 for cycle touring and require very few of the many features. Mostly to save battery and the fact I don’t need to know about a steep climb ahead with 30kgs of load!

Multiple attempts of menu searching has resulted in reaching out to garmin support and the forum here.
I’ve listed below the requirements. Any advice on how to achieve would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

  • To be able to sync courses from my iPhone to Garmin device
  • Select course and have display with just map and speed reading (no elevation profile)
  • Set saved route colour to different colour (not purple)
  • No recording of my rides and no prompts to auto record or alike. I never save ride or require the data.
  • Climb pro disabled
  • All safety features for traffic and sharp bends disabled
  • No tones or prompts to start recording, notifications or messages from my iPhone.
  • Use Garmin Connect to open GPX file on your phone, and from there  SEND it to Edge. This is how it works on Android, and I see no reason to be much different on IOS.

For most of your other questions, simply go through all the options in general, and all the options for each type of activity you use. They are all there.

  • If you really want long battery life then first and foremost set the display brightness to the darkest you can see, set the display to turn itself off in as few seconds as possible, and keep the display off for most of the ride.

Some of the other features you don't want may be possible to disable, though my guess would be that they'll add less to the battery life than darkening the screen.
