Failed to get basemap version after installing 25.25 and map 24.20

After installing firmware 25.25 then updating to map 24.20 (us maps) successfully. I am getting a "Failed to get baseman version" message on boot.

Further when reconnecting to Garmin express it now says there is 1 update available and when clicking the install button I get a red banner with "There was an error in installing the update).

This is using Garmin express on windows 11.

What do I do now?

I remember that for some strange reason, the basemap was the only file that was not restored when doing a total wipe and restore using Garmin Express. And that the basemap img file had various sizes depending…

Seems that deleting all maps and IQ-apps using Garmin Express, factory resetting the device and re-installing maps and IQ-apps solves the issues. The latest version 7.24.00 should restore the Basemap too.

I deleted all maps, apps. Did a factory reset and reinstalled the us map with version 7.24.00 and I still get the Failed to get baseman version. No idea what to do next.

The missing basemap issue was a subject on this forum before. Someone posted a link for download, maybe worth looking up?

What you need is the "INTL Standard Autoroute Basemap, NR" - file gmapbmap.img, size about 6GB. Maybe someone in your environment has this file on their device (does strictly not have to be an Explore 2), or maybe someone on this forum is willing to post a private download link, WeTransfer, Google Drive, etc..? Place the file in the folder \Garmin on the EE2.

If I check the coverage, it also covers the USA, so it is the international version.

And that the basemap img file had various sizes depending on the device, but were all compatible. Again, lack of transparency and information does not help. If you look around this forum you can find links to the file, shared by users.
