I have a new Explore 2 device and just learned that it only supports three activity types: Road, Gravel, and Indoor. It seems a bit limiting, but it is what it is.
I noticed that I can rename the profiles—for example, changing "Gravel" to "Offroad"—but the activity type remains as Gravel. I don't think it would be a big issue to allow users to change the activity type (not add new ones, just modify the existing ones). It would be fine if we didn't have all the metrics and features of other Garmin devices, but this small change could save us from having to update the activity type in Garmin Connect every single time we ride.
I have owned a Garmin Fenix a lot of time and it's perfect. I have always recommended Garmin devices, but this limitation feels silly. Three profiles? Really? No option to add new ones or modify the activity type? What??
My family gifted me this device for Christmas, and I feel uncomfortable telling them, "Thanks, but you bought a device that's useless for mountain biking," even though it's called Explore.
Garmin, come on!!
