Garmin Please - Allow to change also the activity type. For instance: from gravel to mountain bike. So we don't have to change it for every activity or drop de garmin devices for another vendor.

I have a new Explore 2 device and just learned that it only supports three activity types: Road, Gravel, and Indoor. It seems a bit limiting, but it is what it is.

I noticed that I can rename the profiles—for example, changing "Gravel" to "Offroad"—but the activity type remains as Gravel. I don't think it would be a big issue to allow users to change the activity type (not add new ones, just modify the existing ones). It would be fine if we didn't have all the metrics and features of other Garmin devices, but this small change could save us from having to update the activity type in Garmin Connect every single time we ride.

I have owned a Garmin Fenix a lot of time and it's perfect. I have always recommended Garmin devices, but this limitation feels silly. Three profiles? Really? No option to add new ones or modify the activity type? What??

My family gifted me this device for Christmas, and I feel uncomfortable telling them, "Thanks, but you bought a device that's useless for mountain biking," even though it's called Explore.

Garmin, come on!!

  • Garmin add MTB profile

  • i ride mtb, road, and every others terrain on Road Profile.

I really dont care about changing profile, i dont understand meaning of changing it.. When i upload it to Strava, it changes only activity"s name..Not relevant for me

I dont understand whypeople have been buyng it if they care about profiles
  • Añadan el perfil MTB. Estoy harto de obsolescencia programada. Garmin, estais estafando a mucha gente. Abriré posts nuevos a partir de ahora para hacer presión. Haced algo garmin!!

  • Hi,
1.just the name and the type of riding. It's different the way that garmin and strava and ... show the maps/graphics/metrics... depending on the ride type. Also you cand search your activities by type...
    2. It was a gift (read it...)
    Bye

  • I would like to do the same. Change the label that goes to Strava to be the same as what comes from my Garmin Forerunner 255 for Mountain Bike instead of saying Gravel Bike. I would like the ability to change the Sport and SubSport in the FIT file so that my 2 gamin devices show the same output. Even if I edit the FIT file it reverts back to what is out of the box from Garmin.
