Edge Explore goes blank and locks up

As was pointed out in quite a few historic threads, devices (not only Edge Explore nn) experience unmotivated lock-ups and crash. This is simply unacceptable. If a device is performing that unreliably and Garmin has found itself incapable of rectifying the issue over the past 4 years - I am wondering if the best approach simply would be to forget about Garmin devices and turn to another vendor. I really don't care about gadgetry and sophisticated functions when the basic capability of navigation is compromised.
