No TBT instructions in space above map page. Why?

Hi, All,
I didn’t have any response from my last post concerning the absence of TBT instructions
on my Edge Explore, so can I try again? When I choose a custom course and press RIDE, the course loads and at the top of the map is a blank space where the TBT instructions once appeared. When I tap this space, a list of distances appears but there is no text to the right of each distance. Can anyone advise please?

  • Hi, All,

Not sure if this forum is still active or populated by members who don’t wish to help, but this, my final post, is in response to my initial two requests for help, leading to no response whatsoever. For the record, being as I do wish to help anyone with a similar problem to mine (and there are plenty of threads to suggest this is the case), here is a summary of the problem I had with my Edge Explore and the solution I found, with the help of the excellent Garmin Chat line:

Problem: No Turn-by-turn (TBT) instructions whilst navigating a course, and only a route line showing my progress with no surrounding streets and roads. It transpired that the map I required (Western Europe) was not installed, only that for Eastern Europe. Re-installing using Garmin Express only replaced like-for-like.

Solution: Being as the ‘Re-install Map’ option I initially selected in my Garmin Express didn’t solve things, I selected instead the alternative ‘Change Map’ option. This sorted my problem. I now have all the European maps installed, including the one I need.

PS. I also deleted and re-installed my copy of the Garmin Express app to ensure I had the latest, uncorrupted version….

  • I, it's very strange what's happen with your gps explorer 2, I read all the posts here and since I have this gps I not notice any of the problems the people report here, maybe I'm lucky or maybe it's because always I update via express on PC. Anyway, I recommended you make a hard reset on the device and waiting for any celestial help here on forum.

  • Thanks for replying. It’s not an Edge Explore 2 I have, it’s the first generation device, but I’m also sorted now. The problem all began when I used the Garmin Express on my PC to update the maps (which were the original ones from 2018). For some reason, the download omitted the very map I needed (Western Europe), along with other general maps (of which there should be three… INTL Standard Basemap, NR; Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10; and Garmin Geocode Map EU 2024.10). But after choosing the Change Maps’ option in my Garmin Express, all the three European Maps (West, East and Central) were installed along with the aforementioned general maps. So, all good!
