After updating to 24.20 I'm now seeing inaccurate grades being displayed. When going uphill I'm getting negative gradients and going along flat shows 6%/7%. On Climb Pro in a red sections just 6%. It was fine before the update.

This issue was reported after upgrade to 24.19 on other Garmin Edge devices. Garmin apparently ignored the reports and released 24.20 for EE2 with the same problem. Garmin, shame on you ! Each new firmware…
Exactly the same here after I upgraded Saturday night. Completely nonsensical grades on a beautiful blue skies day. +20% on a 5% grade, -9% on a flat section. Absolutely all over the place.
Are Garmin using us as betatesters?!
and we are proud of it :)

This mistake SAS introduced in new algorithm to be more responsive.. but is terrible inaccurate… even in Sw version 24.19 for garmin edge 840.
we hope in in quick fix
I agree.
garmin should have fixed this new algorithm to grade determination as soon as possible
This seems correct: the grade reading changes much more often than it used to do. But I think that introduces all kinds of over-correction errors as it tries to keep track of changes. So I get negative readings while climbing, or rapid fluctuations on a steady grade. The best quick fix would be to go back to the old algorithm, which wasn't super responsive, but had the minor benefit of being approximately accurate, on the whole (thought it also gave weird results or exaggerated, sometimes.)
