Can i use Garmin Edge Explorer 2 without a smart watch?

Hello guys. I've done some research and I finally found a GPS that suits perfectly to my bike Garmin Edge Explorer 2. So before I buy it, I have a question. Can I use this GPS without a smartwatch?
