Maps do not have routable rods in this area

Recently did a 3,000 mile trip from my hom ein NW UK to Istanbult.

Literally within minute of crossing into Hungary I got a message saying

( this was on 29th May 2024)

"Route Calculation error

Maps do not have routable roads in this area"

This persisted all the way to Istanbul. I could see a map with my route on it ( dropedd onto the Garmin as a GPX) and distance to destination, but no turn directions. and no notification of going off course except Distance to Destination  going to zero. So significant loss of helpful function.

Did sync it with a laptop, no change

Didn't want to mess around any more incase I made things worse.

When I got home back to UK, it started working fine!

DO you have routabe maps in Eastern Europe? They don't seem to work.

Or was something else causing this ?

Also had error of loisng HR monitor after device going to sleep, had to pwer off every time.

Great shame. Good device spoiled, once again, by flaky software

  • Your description suggests that the Eastern EU routable map, if installed on your device, was not enabled and you were seeing the non-routable basemap. You can check what is on your device in your activity profile (Activity profile>Navigation>map>map info).
