Start driving without a route plan, then navigate to an intermediate destination and still record the entire route in one go?

Hi guys, maybe someone can help me.

The scenario is as stated in the subject line: I drive off first without having planned a route and record - no problem, that works. On the way I would like to be navigated to the nearest supermarket or similar. How can I achieve this without having to interrupt my current recording? For example, I could also do the navigation via Komoot or another app by importing a GPX file, because that's too fiddly on the Edge 2. But I just can't get my track of the entire tour to continue to be recorded in one piece.

  • You have to stop recording in order to import a route, but you don't have to completely stop it.

    1. Press the Start/Stop button to enter this page.

    2. Tap the back arrow on the top left.

    3. Then tap anywhere on the screen and tap the Home icon.

    4. Now you can send routes, syncing with Connect Mobile, etc.

    5. Press Start/Stop button again to continue recording.

  • You don't need to stop recording; simply go to the home screen/navigation and use your device as usual. The recording will continue in the background.

  • I can’t send routes to device without pausing.

  • Indeed, you can. Sending routes from Connect to device while recording activitiy wasn't possible on older devices, but with the 540/840/1040/Explore2, it is feasible. Just open Connect, select the route, and send it to the device. No matter if you record activity or not.  Or if you want navigate to POIs, go to the home screen, tap Navigation and choose Search.. I've just tried it, and it functions properly.

  • Thank you for the information! Now we can skip pausing Smile
