Cannot get GPS signal on new Edge Explore 2

I just got a new Edge Explore 2, updated to latest firmware, connected to my phone and Garmin connect has sync'ed.

Went for a ride and the GPS signal never connected. Blue bird sky and rode for a good 45 minutes with the unit not being able to connect.

I've tried resetting the unit, using both types of GPS signals and nothing at all.

Has anyone had this issue?

  • Sounds like one of 2 possibilities:

    1. The more likely: you did an "indoor" ride, where the GPS is switched off. Before you start the ride you'll see in the top "Indoor" and by swiping left/right you should change it to Road or Off-road before you hit the start button. Optionally if the usage of indoor is intentional then go to it's settings and enable GPS.

    2. As it's a new unit it might be a hardware fault, in which case I'm sure Garmin will give you a replacement
