map update failed

synced my EE2 today and it said there was a map update to install,

Downloaded, and click on dialog to install the map, and it failed (with no reason why) - saw red banner in Garmin Express saying there was an error.

Disconnected and quit Garmin Express, then connected again and now it says I am all synced, but I know that isn't true.

What can I do to force the map update?

You can check which maps are installed on the device. The latest Garmin Cycle Map EU version is 2024.10 and you should find 24.10 West, 24.10 Central, 24.10 East, 24.10 Geocode and 23.10 DEM. Also INTL Standard Autoroute Basemap NR. It is under profile / Navigation / Map / Map Information

Yes, I know. Express said there was an error and then that the maps were updated. They were not, the device has the old version and express doesn’t update

Hi, did you find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same - very frustrating. I've tried everything that I can find on these forums and nothing has worked for me.

Also did same update- same problem GE aborted during map update and disconnected from EE2. Now no map available on device. Any suggestions?

Hi, I tried a different cable (not the official Garmin one) and the update worked first time for me.

Managed to update but still get weird crashes, hang ups, terrible interface etc. I’m putting it on eBay and have bought a hammerhead, a pal has one and it’s just so much easier to live with. More expensive though but you do find the occasional deal and have started to pop up on eBay.

Just spoke to Garmin support (for an 1hour) and they tell me its a known fault in the device - will provide a swap free of change but not free of frustration.
