New activity profile on my edge explore 2 ?

Is it possible to create a new MTB activity profile on my edge explore 2 ? I only see 3 profiles, is this missing on this model ?

You can't. Explore 2 has three predefined profiles: road cycling, gravel biking and indoor training. You can rename it, but you can't change it's type. There is feature request for adding this ability…

There are only 3 preset profiles on the edge explore 2. It is not possible to add another one.

Indeed you cannot add your own profiles as @tmk2 states. The only things you can change are the name and the color of the profile. If you change the name of the OFF ROAD profile to for example MTB it will show as MTB on the device, but when you upload your activity to Garmin Connect the activity class is registered as 'GRAVEL/UNPAVED CYCLING'. You can only change the activity type afterwards in Connect, but not on the device in the profile properties itself. That's an omission, to say it politely.

How do you rename them? i was hunting for that option last week and i couldnt track it down! is it through the connect plus app or on the device itssef?

On the device:
Main menu / hamburger menu / Activity Profiles / select a profile / upper right corner 3-dots / choose rename and/or Color. You can apply the changed profile from here, or from the main menu using the right or left arrow.

This is obviously particularly ridiculous for a GPS, with one of the profiles being "indoor" and impossible to modify. Who needs an indoor GPS?

For training purposes maybe, using a hometrainer with power meter, etc.? At least the existing profiles should be editable on all properties and being able to add a few profiles is also a widely supported wish.
