Had enough of this shoddy device

Can’t load maps using an iPad, sync keeps failing, random restarts, doesn’t recognise full post codes, kommot integration clunky, app distinctly average. I’m going wahoo next time, it can’t be any worse.

  • ...battery drain still terrible... sensors get lost multiple times per ride and have to be added manually... never got it running for longer than 15 minutes... deeply regretting the "upgrade" from version 1. The first edge explore at least somehow managed to do what it was supposed to...

  • Sorry you're having so many issues, I've been using an EE2 since September and it works really well. No issues with sync (Android) or sensors and it records activities very well with radar, lights, cadence, speed and heart sensors attached.

  • No issues after 2 updates. Inicial boxed verison had indeed some but now works nicely. It's perfect ? No. Notthing is and such device is still to be done.

  • And I'm also pissed about my Explore 2.
    Whole EDGE lineup is terrible.
Quality from Garmin side are very bad for the last year.
I think it's time to change the vendor, maybe Karoo is the way to go.
I can understand that they can mess up some entry level device like Explore 2, but when they mess up flagship (for example messing up basecamp on 1040) that means there is some big problems on within Garmin management.
If this problems will continue, for sure, I'll go on and change Garmin for some other who is capable enough to do the job right.
These device does not sell cheap, so they need to make sure they work as advertised.

  • What could have been a great device for navi and basic data, EE2 is a source of frustration from day 1. I've never used such beta, unfinished product, whose software is flawed by marketing decisions. Bought one last year, used it on a two week bikepacking trip, sold it in hope I'll find something better....only to find myself buying the same crap again. Karoo 2 was my alternative, but that unit seems to be riddled with its own unsolvable problems. Was thinking about 1030+ but just one look here at their forum shows last update for it released 8 months ago, and the long line of people waiting for issues resolved...
It seems every Edge device suffers from lack of support.
Implementing emoji, twitter and other crap in updates without resolving main issues seems to be a path Garmin has chosen for us.
I used to like Garmin products a lot. Now I just have to learn to tolerate them.

  • I agree totally with you Medomish.
I use EE2 as my second device, so I have Fenix as my primary device.
And I did owned so much Garmin device in last few years.

So we spent so much money for the company that is not giving the feedback back? Well I can spend my money somewhere else who will support me.
If this nonsense will continue, for sure, I'll change the vendor.
Garmin support, if you are reading this, please forward this to your management. There is something very wrong within your company that needs to be resolved.

Consumers wants devices that works as advertised. And If they mailfunction, they want that someone is working on it. In last year, I can see all of EE2 users are nothing more that beta testers for flagships devices from Edge series.

That is wrong Garmin people, consumers will start to spend money somewhere else.

  • One thing I don’t understand: For those who have so many complaints about the device. What about the guarantee. I don’t know for how long in your situation, in Holland it’s two years. If this would happen to me I would return the device and ask for a new one.

I think this is my third Garmin (Explore 1 and 840) and never had such major problems. They all worked well.

  • It’s not broken, it’s just not very good. I’ve tried a Karoo, the interface is intuitive and reliable. I don’t need to do a google search to understand how to get to settings. At somepoint I’ll be putting my explore on ebay. It’s a piece of junk

  • I agree with those who criticize the software design. It takes a long time to understand it and you quickly forget it again. But in terms of energy efficiency and speed, the explore 2 is a huge step forward compared to its predecessor. In the end, I am very satisfied.
