Public Beta software version 10.14 is live

Change Log:

  • Added navigation shortcut in map banner.
  • Added ability to return to last data screen after leaving the timer loop.
  • Fixed climb ascent in climb list
  • Changed date format to Day Month-Abbr. Year

However missing in the Change Log:

* Made auto-pause overlay less persistent.

In first instance I was very disappointed, but after installing the 10.14 Beta... Happy!
The large Auto Pause symbol still appears on a dimmed screen, but one tap is sufficient to clear up. What remains is the orange/yellow border as a reminder for the Pause state. Good improvement.
The update installed without issues.

You have to enroll for the Beta Software Program to be able to get the beta update.

  • No ClimbPro on the fly? No ability to edit profiles? No reverse track? Average moving speed?
How about ability to go back once you select to reply to incoming message form the list of responses?

  • Climb Pro on the fly is reserved for the high end devices. It is never coming to this budget level device.

  • +1

    No add profiles

    Auto pause is a garbage

  • Thanks for the info. Think I'm gonna wait a week or so till I update.

  • Feels reasonable. Also remember that at the moment people choose to buy an Edge Explore 2 there is no "ClimbPro on the fly" and was never spoken about. The specifications and price were the concluding reasons - thoroughly compared to different options - to buy one. Moaning about features that one would like to have - inspired by feature updates on higher level devices - feels like a child that wants more and more candy's.

The most important - at least for me - is that implemented functions as designed are working properly, bug free and not annoying. So, for Garmin it should be clear where to put its efforts. No such things like emojis, etc. please. The improvement for the Auto Pause behavior is a good example in this respect.

As a race bike and sometimes MTB touring rider the Edge Explore 2 is very pleasant to use, is stable, has no battery issues, does excellent tour guiding (TBT) and registeres enough useful data for my sportive / recreational use. My mileage is between 10k & 12k km's per year.

  • Do you know what is meaning "Added ability to return to last data screen after leaving the timer loop." and his can I change or setting timer?

    Or how it's work?

    Thank you.

  • Sorry, no. Did not take the time yet to dive in the details of changed items. Maybe it has to do with the data screens that pass by when you have 'Auto Zoom' set to ON. I never use that though.

Maybe the Garmin people can shine some light? @Garmin-Maeve, @Garmin-Matthew, @Garmin-Blake?

  • Prior to the beta software if you left the training page loop to go to the widget loop or home glances when you selected to go back to the training pages it would always take you to page 1 and not the page you were on when you left the training pages. Now it will take you back to the page you were on when you left.

  • What about turning off the climb complete happy tune ? Is it possible? it's really annoying.

  • If the Explore has done what the 1040/840/540 have done then it is changed the complete tone to a single beep.
