Edge Explore 2 discharging even when it`s switched off (not in Sleep Mode).

With mine it's even worse. Not sure what to do..

Same problem here. My last ride was on December 22nd. Switched off at 69%. One week later completely empty! 

Here it doesn't happen. I didn't use it for 3 or 4 weeks and didn't see an unusual low battery level (though i didn't check it 4 weeks ago when I turned it off, but it was over 70 when I turned it on and based on my usage the previous time it was somewhere between 70 - 80 when I turned it off) So i don't know if it went down a few percents or not but certainly not too much because then i would've noticed.

If the device is really switched OFF (not Sleep) the battery should not drain in the amount you describe. 13% drain in 3 days is not normal and I would even be surprised if this should happen in 3 months.
However there is one circumstance where batteries can behave unexpectedly and that is temperature. I've seen batteries that loose capacity (very) rapidly at lower temperatures. So, if the device was at room temperature at start on 28th of December and was at outside winter (?) temperature when you measured 72% on the 31st, this could exlain the drain. If in doubt, check the battery level over the same time period of 3 days at constant environment temperature. Temperature issues with Li-Ion batteries should not occur with a new device like the Explore 2 - I would contact Garmin or your reseller.

And like Gavriel's my Explore 2 (July 2022) also does not suffer battery drain when OFF.

Battery levels I provided initialy were measured in room temperature and in the meantime the Explore 2 was sitting comfy at my flat.

The first time I noticed that the battery is discharging while the device is unused is when I`ve found out that there is a new FW available for the Explore 2 - 7.09. When I wanted to do the FW update, I had my last trip around 3 weeks before that and it was big surprise that the battery was flat at that point. I recall having around 80% of the charge while I switched it off 3 weeks earlier.

There`s another odd behavior related to the battery I`ve noticed just as I bought the device - while charging Explore 2 swtiched on, the charge level is not increasing smoothly but by some random increments. Then, when I would reset the device it shows different charge level. To have the battery percentage increase percent by perecent I have to charge it while it`s switched off.

Apart from those issues above, I don`t see any other strange behaviour in battery life when the device is switched on and in use. It would average around 20h of use, which meets the Garmin specification.

UPDATE: I`ve just turned on Explore 2 to check if there`s a drain, but what surprised me was how fast the device started up. It definitely starts as it was put into sleep, but I`m 100% sure that I switched it off yesterday and seen the power logo, which indicates it should be powered down.

It seems then that the "Turn off" button doesn`t work as inteded or the device wakes on it`s own and then goes to sleep (?).

I have a heart rate sensor and two speed sensors (for two different bikes) in my sensor list (all ANT+). At the moment I switch off the device the HR and one speed sensor are active, but both are out of reach after parking the bike and changing clothes. Also never have reconnect issues.
When arriving at home I allways switch off GPS as a habit remaining from a long period I monitored battery consumption on my Edge Explore (1) I owned before the Explore 2.
I'm not aware that the GPS electronics can remain active in the background when the device is switched off, but maybe worth a try to see if it makes difference in your situation?

I don't have the problem with the EE2's battery, but I do have something strange:
Today when I turned on the EE2 it told me that it's connected to the Cadence and Speed sensors (via BT) even though I did not touch (move) the bike for 2 days. When I had them connected via ANT it only connected after I moved the sensors. So it might be indeed somehow related to the sensors' state and even whether they're connected via ANT or BT.

I have had similar problems with my Explore 2.  After fully charging it, I did not use it for about 2 weeks and it sat it the garage.  I went for a ride on Friday and it was completely dead.  I fully charged it after the ride.  Today, 2 days later it was at 85%.(it was a room temparture in the whole time).    This seems like a huge amount of drain in 2 days while asleep.  I will try powering it off and see if that helps.

After three weeks of experimenting I must say that I solved the problem. Switching off the automatic sleep modus, paying extra attention in switching off manually and everything is allright now.
